Rarely will the would-be hi-def video director be in the position to edit their footage on a monitor that displays in it's intended format (like a 16:9 1080p 50 inch HDTV). This often means having to edit your project on a regular computer monitor, and then if you don't have a Blu-ray authoring platform or Blu-ray burner, you are left with an edited project that you can't redily display on your new flat panel in the living room. Generally I do only about three different kinds of shooting. I shoot nature footage for the purpose of cutting up and selling as stock footage. I have shot events such as parties and class reunions. Then I also shoot friends and family. Each of these different scenerios brings with it a different mind set.
